Mr. Todd - LoFrese, Assistant Superintendent for Support Services, <br />described the draft Annual Report to the Town Council. The Town Council offered the <br />following comments, summarized below: <br />• It was suggested that national data could be helpful regarding generation rates. Questions were <br />raised if student counts from particular complexes match the generation rates. <br />• Comments were provided about the success of all students with-various needs. The status of Pace <br />Academy was discussed. <br />• Consideration of energy efficiency /savings is important with renovation projects. <br />• The SAPFO Certificate of Adequate Schools (CAPS) process was described and the need for <br />future schools was discussed. A question was raised about how long the CAPS are valid. And, <br />what happens when CAPS are denied. <br />• Questions were raised about the length of the design/construction process for new schools. <br />• Pre -K capacity impacts was discussed. <br />• The future of Glenwood Elementary was discussed. <br />• It was emphasized that it is important for the schools and local government boards to continue <br />working together especially as it relates to the process for issuance of CAPS. <br />• It was noted that national data may help with multi- family membership numbers as it relates to <br />rental versus ownership and associated with pricing. <br />• The potential impact of redevelopment on schools was noted as it relates to walk -zones and <br />redistricting. <br />• It was noted that improvements to existing facilities could further delay future school <br />construction. <br />• Alternatives were mentioned such as working with DT Community College, exploring other <br />alternative learning environments, magnets, and year -round schools. <br />• Typical land area requirements for new schools were discussed. <br />
