31 <br />Wednesday, February 24 2014 <br />Wednesday, May 12, 2014 <br />Town Council Public Forum <br />Town Hall Council Chambers <br />405 Martin Luther King Blvd. <br />Chapel Hill, NC 27514 <br />7:00 P.M <br />A draft of the Annual Action Plan was made available on the Orange County, Town of <br />Hillsborough, Town of Chapel Hill and Town of Carrboro websites for review and in <br />the office of the Orange County Housing, Human Rights and Community <br />Development Department. <br />2. Provide a summary of citizen comments or views on the plan. <br />Comments from the Orange County Board of County Commissioners <br />February 4, 2014 board meeting: <br />Robert Dowling, Executive Director of the Community Home Trust indicated that they <br />would request $50,000 in HOME funds to subsidize town homes in the Ballantine, <br />South Grove and Burch Kove developments, and $100,000 in HOME funds for <br />construction costs in the Waterstone development. The Community Home Trust will <br />request $18,000 for operational expenses. <br />Susan Levy, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, Inc., stated that Habitat <br />woud request $250,000 in HOME funds for second mortgage assistance in the <br />Northside in Chapel Hill, Fairview in Hillsborough and Tinnin Woods subdivision in <br />Efland Cheeks Township, Efland, NC. <br />Mary Jean Seyda, Chief Operating Officer of CASA stated they will request $25,000 <br />for operational expenses. <br />Summary of Comments from February 24, 2014 <br />Community Development and HOME Program Pubic Forum <br />1. Will goeight, a representative of the Chapel Hill- Carrboro Y's Afterschool Outreach <br />Program, shared that the program is overseen by an outreach counselor, serves 12 <br />youth, and provides one -to -one tutoring. <br />2. Susan Levy, the Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity, requested $130,000 in <br />Community Development funding for use in the Northside and Pine Knolls <br />neighborhoods. Habitat for Humanity has requested $55,000 to purchase a lot on Craig <br />Street which is owned by Self -Help; this lot would be used for homeownership. Habitat <br />for Humanity is also requesting $75,000 for the A Brush With Kindness program; Habitat <br />has completed sixA Brush With Kindness homes in Northside and one in Pine Knolls. <br />3. Kathy Atwater supported the allocation of Community Development Block funds to <br />Habitat for Humanity to be used for the A Brush With Kindness program. <br />4. Aaron Bachenheimer supported the allocation of Community Development Block funds <br />to Habitat for Humanity to be used for the A Brush With Kindness program. <br />FY 2014 -2015 Action Plan 26 <br />
