Gordon, Earl McKee, Bernadette Pelissier, Renee Price, Penny Rich <br /> 15 COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: <br /> 16 COUNTY ATTORNEYS PRESENT: John Roberts <br /> 17 COUNTY STAFF PRESENT: Interim County Manager Michael Talbert, Assistant County <br /> 18 Managers Clarence Grier, Cheryl Young and Clerk to the Board Donna Baker (All other staff <br /> 19 members will be identified appropriately below) <br /> 20 NOTE: ALL DOCUMENTS REFERRED TO IN THESE MINUTES ARE IN THE PERMANENT <br /> 21 AGENDA FILE IN THE CLERK'S OFFICE. <br /> 22 <br /> 23 Chair Jacobs called the meeting to order at 6:03 pm. <br /> 24 <br /> 25 1. Additions or Changes to the Agenda <br /> 26 PUBLIC CHARGE <br /> 27 The Chair dispensed with the reading of the public charge. <br /> 28 <br /> 29 2. Public Comments <br /> 30 <br /> 31 a. Matters not on the Printed Agenda <br /> 32 <br /> 33 Commissioner Dorosin arrived at 6:07 pm <br /> 34 Beverly Hester Stephens read the following written comments: <br /> 35 Good evening, Commissioners, and thank you for this opportunity to make a special request on <br /> 36 behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving of North Carolina, Orange Partnership for Alcohol & <br /> 37 Drug Free Youth, parents and community members. <br /> 38 <br /> 39 We are collaborating with Mothers Against Drunk Driving to increase awareness among parents <br /> 40 and caregivers that their voice IS heard by their children. Power Talk 21 is a national day set <br /> 41 aside to recognize the important role parents and caregivers have in keeping their children safe, <br /> 42 and encourages adults to have open, honest conversations. <br /> 43 <br /> 44 We will be hosting a town hall and workshop on April 21St, and providing tools to empower <br /> 45 parents and caregivers to have conversations throughout the month of April. <br /> 46 <br /> 47 Understanding that this will be reviewed by the Chair, Vice Chair and County Manager, we <br /> 48 humbly request the Board proclaim April 21 St as PowerTalk 21 Day in Orange County, at their <br /> 49 next County Commissioner meeting on April 151H <br /> 50 <br />
