Tonight is the second formal public <br /> hearing. There will be two open houses starting on April 23 d from 4-7 p.m. at Extraordinary <br /> Ventures and the repeat will be on April 30th in Hillsborough from 4-7 p.m. at the West Campus <br /> Office Building. He said that last year they created a prioritization of about 50,000 bus hours <br /> and they now have had to reduce this to 36,000 hours. <br /> This information will be formally presented along with the bus element of the plan to the <br /> Board of County Commissioners on May 3 d at its work session. <br /> The next very important meeting will be May 15th, where the Orange County Transit <br /> Plan, financial plan, Durham/Orange County cost share agreement, and the implementing <br /> agreement will be discussed. Finally, on June 5th, there will be a public hearing on the '/2-cent <br /> Public Transit Tax referendum. There will also be a decision at that time on the referendum. <br /> PUBLIC COMMENT: <br /> Gerry Cohen read a prepared statement. <br /> "My name is Gerry Cohen. I resided in Orange County from 1968 to 1984, and have <br /> lived in Wake County since then. I served on the Chapel Hill Town Council from 1973 to 1979 <br /> and have served on the Chapel Hill Transportation Board, the Raleigh Transit Authority and <br /> the City of Raleigh Passenger Rail Task Force. I served on the Special Transit Advisory <br /> Commission (STAC), and staffed the legislative commission which recommended the Regional <br /> Transit tax and referendum bill that is up for your consideration.
