Attachment 7 <br /> 19 <br /> Resolution#20140310-10.A <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE <br /> SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL STRATEGIC ACTION PLAN <br /> For ORANGE COUNTY <br /> WHEREAS, The Safe Routes to School Advisory Committee was appointed and began work <br /> with the goal of recommending improvements around 3 Hillsborough area schools to facilitate <br /> safe walking routes for students; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Advisory Committee was made up of community advocates for walking, <br /> planning staff members and school staff members. The Committee was assisted by NCDOT and <br /> a planning consultant to formulate a the draft action plan; and <br /> WHEREAS, The draft action plan provides a detailed inventory of existing conditions,planned <br /> improvements,recommended improvements and program recommendations to implement the <br /> goals; and <br /> WHEREAS, The draft action plan was presented at a public workshop in April 2008 to solicit <br /> public comment and feedback; and <br /> WHEREAS, The draft action plan has been updated to reflect changes in local conditions since <br /> the project inception and has been presented to the Orange County School Board, Town of <br /> Hillsborough Board of Commissioners, and Orange County Board of Commissioners for <br /> adoption and implementation, <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD OF <br /> COMMISSIONERS, that the Safe Routes To School Strategic Action Plan For Orange County is <br /> adopted by the Town of Hillsborough as a guide for improving walkability to the studied <br /> schools. <br /> This the 10th day of March, 2014. <br /> yi1!' -'P•• <br /> qtr.-A Tom Stevens,Mayor <br /> �J <br /> SEAL Town <br /> 1111#W—gh 441t �114 <br /> j Katherine M.
