Commissioner Dorosin said this is the only way to provide the information that the <br /> Board is looking for. He believes that if this information was available, the Board would <br /> support this. <br /> Commissioner McKee said every idea does not need to move forward, and the Board <br /> sometimes has to make hard decisions. He said this may be a very good idea, but there are <br /> other considerations, such as education, that override it. He feels the Board has a hard time <br /> making a definitive decision. He is comfortable with the motion that was made, and the Board <br /> needs to have the backbone to stick with it. <br /> Commissioner Rich said she agrees with Commissioner Pelissier that this ought not to <br /> be a dead issue. She said she can go along with Commissioner Dorosin's proposal as long as <br /> it is kept in the budget cycle. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier said she does not want to revive this and spend money on it <br /> right now. She would like to re-visit this in the future, during the discussions for a full blown <br /> park at Blackwood Farm. <br /> Commissioner Gordon said this should come back for discussion during the budget <br /> cycle. She said there is no need to rush and pay money for an employee to keep this idea <br /> alive before the budget cycle. She said right now this expense is too large. <br /> Chair Jacobs asked for clarification on page 3, regarding the cost to hire an events <br /> planner. <br /> Dave Stancil said this was geared toward the hiring a person on a contract basis. <br /> Jeff Thompson said $15,000-$20,000 is a realistic number for the 4 month scope of <br /> services described. <br /> Commissioner Rich said she does not think this number is enough, but it does not <br /> matter at this point. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin said his motion is to hire someone now to help provide <br /> information and answers to all of the questions. <br /> Michael Talbert asked if this proposal is to hire a temporary person, or to have a firm <br /> hire someone to do this research. <br /> Chair Jacobs said this has not been specified. <br /> Michael Talbert said the timetable on this would put the hiring in mid to late March or <br /> April, which would be too late for the budget cycle for this year. <br /> Commissioner Price said there have been emails from interested parties regarding the <br /> event planner position. <br /> VOTE: Ayes, 3: Chair Jacobs Commissioner Dorosin Commissioner Price; Nays, 4: <br /> Commissioner Pelissier, Commissioner Rich, Commissioner McKee, Commissioner Gordon <br /> Motion fails. <br /> 8. He said, as a member of that pool, the County received a check <br /> for $157, 000 for their share in the risk pool. He said this went into the self-insurance reserves <br /> fund. <br /> He said the Board of Elections is moving forward with the idea of early voting, which will <br /> start on April 4, 2014 and will end on May 3, 2014. He said, by law this has to operate for 226 <br />
