ORANGE COUNTY <br />BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br />Meeting Date: March 18, 2014 <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. 4 -a <br />SUBJECT: Proclamation Recognizing Chapel Hill High School's Fencing Team Winning <br />the 2014 State Championship <br />DEPARTMENT: BOCC <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />- Proclamation <br />PUBLIC HEARING: (Y /N) No <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Donna Baker, Clerk to the Orange <br />County Board of Commissioners <br />(919) 245 -2130 <br />1 <br />PURPOSE: To consider a proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Fencing Team <br />for winning the 2014 State Championship. <br />BACKGROUND: On February 8, 2014 Chapel Hill High School's Fencing Team captured the <br />North Carolina Fencing League's State Fencing Championship. <br />Under the guidance of Coach Doug Guild, Chapel Hill High School's Fencing Team earned its <br />second state title, also winning the trophy in 2012. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: None <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the attached <br />proclamation recognizing the Chapel Hill High School Fencing Team for winning the 2014 State <br />Championship and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on behalf of the Board. <br />
