1 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: February 18, 2014 <br /> Action Agenda <br /> Item No. 6-g <br /> SUBJECT: Commemorative Plaque Policy <br /> DEPARTMENT: Asset Management Services PUBLIC HEARING: (Y/N) No <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> DRAFT Commemorative Plaque Policy Jeff Thompson, (919) 245-2658 <br /> PURPOSE: To adopt the recommended facilities commemorative plaque policy. <br /> BACKGROUND: On November 19, 2013, the Board of County Commissioners provided <br /> guidance to the Manager and staff with regard to the crafting of a policy governing <br /> commemorative plaques for County facilities. <br /> The Board discussed which types of facilities and projects should be considered for <br /> commemoration, project size and cost thresholds for inclusion, characteristics and language for <br /> the commemorative plaques, and other variables. The Board also authorized the Manager to <br /> install commemorative plaques in recently constructed facilities upon final plaque proof <br /> submittal by the Board. <br /> The attached draft policy summarizes the Board's discussion and potential approval. <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: The estimated cost for a single interior commemorative plaque installed <br /> similar to the one installed within the Link Center ranges from $1,300 to $1,500. Plaques for <br /> future facilities would be funded within the individual capital project budget. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board adopt the recommended <br /> facilities commemorative plaque policy. <br />
