r
13
Orange County Coinprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan
CHAPTER 3 -Park Inventory/Assessment
Park Inventory and Assessment
Introduction: Orange County residents and visitors have benefitted from bond referenda approved by voters
in 1997 and 2001. These bonds provided $23 million for the purchase and preservation of land and the devel-
opment of Parks, Recreation and Open Space facilities. Of this, $13.5 million was dedicated to use within Or-
ange County jurisdiction. The remainder was provided for the municipalities. More than $2 million in grant
funding has been received for Orange County and partner projects, and additional millions of dollars in fund-
ing from alternative sources have also been used. Between 2000 and 2011 the majority of this funding has
been put to use in the purchase of property and the development of the properties identified on the map and
described within this chapter. Efland-Cheeks and Central Recreation community centers were already in
place, but improvements and expansions were made to the facilities. Currently more than 1,500 acres of
publicly-held and protected land is included within the Orange County park and preserve inventory. More
than one million people are welcomed each year into Orange County Parks and Recreation facilities.
1
mss" 157 fr'
Cedar Grove Park it
and future ComnunityrCenter
Little River
Regional Park
I Future Northeast
FutureUcGowan_ ✓ District Park
Ellan -Cheeks Park Creek Preserve f
and mmunity Center Falrview /
yY► Park (fj '
To j t Central Recreali on
AAEBAN ` River Park
ruros port H/LLSB, 0 GH Sportplex
Soccercenter -
OA `
future Seven 0
We Creek Preserve , f / ° DU AU
Future Blackwood
f Farm Park
Future
t Future iithouse Hollow Rock_
Road rk Access Area
Future Roger's Rd.
Future Twin ornm on!ty Center
Creeks Park
HAPEL H
Jones Creek G reenway Y5
CARRSOR +
Orange County
Parks and Preserves
501
;f
3-1
