f <br /> May 25, 1967 Minutes continued <br /> STATEMENT OF RESULT OF THE SPECIAL <br /> ELECTION FOR SUPPLEMENTAL TAX, <br /> CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT, ORANGE <br /> COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> May 23, 1967 <br /> At a special election held throughout the Chapel Hill School District <br /> on May 23, 1967, 7,899 voters were registered and qualified to vote. <br /> At said election 3,196 votes were cast for the supplemental tax increasing <br /> said 20C per hundred dollar valuation special tax to not exceeding 35T per hundred <br /> dollar property valuation within said area for supplementing the current expense <br /> funds from State and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the Chapel <br /> Hill Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School District of a higher <br /> standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school budget, and 1,486 <br /> votes were cast against said order; that a majority of the qualified voters of <br /> said County who voted at said election voted in favor of the approval of said <br /> supplemental tax, and that said supplemental tax thereby approved is in force and <br /> effect. <br /> This statement is given by order of the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> County of Orange. <br /> This the 25th day of May, 1967. <br /> /s/ H. Ward <br /> Commissioners <br /> TO THE CITIZENS AND TAXPAPERS OF CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT: <br /> No right of action or defense founded upon the invalidity of the election <br /> mentioned in the foregoing statement shall be asserted, nor shall the validity of <br /> such election be open to question in any court upon any ground whatever, except <br /> in an action or proceeding commenced within thirty days after the publication of <br /> the foregoing statement. <br /> Betty June Hayes <br /> Clerk to Board of Commissioners <br /> for County of Orange, North <br /> Carolina <br /> At the conclusibn_ of the Special School Bond election and the Special <br /> Supplemental Tax Election for Chapel Hill School District canvass the Board of <br /> Commissioners reconvened in the Commissioners room to meet with representatives <br /> of the Town of Mebane. Those present were Marvin Walker, Mayor, Jack Phelps and <br /> Jack Self, Town Commissioners; and Lawrence Alley, Consulting Engineer, for the <br /> industrial park water project. Mr. Alley announced the results of the bid <br /> openings for said project and gave the following recommendations: <br /> 1. That all contracts be awarded to the low bidders. <br /> 2. That the water lines be constructed of cast iron pipe. <br /> 3. That the sewer line be installed at the alternate location. <br /> 4. That McLean Frost Casing be installed on the riser of the existing <br /> water tank. <br /> The representatives from the Town of Mebane concurred with Mr. Alley's <br /> statements. <br /> Discussion ensued relative to these recommendations. Upon motion of <br /> Commissioner Ray, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was moved that the Board of <br /> Commissioners tentatively accept Mr. Alley's recommendations and bids. <br /> Chairman Bennett directed that the following low bidders be recorded in <br /> the minutes of this meeting. <br />
