May 25, 1967 Minutes continued <br /> Thereupon Commissioner Ward introduced the following reolution which <br /> was read: <br /> RESOLUTION ADOPTING A STATEMENT OF THE RESULT <br /> OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION FOR SUPPLEMENTAL TAX, <br /> CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT, HELD IN THE DISTRICT <br /> ON MAY 23, 1967, AND PROVIDING FOR THE RECORDING, <br /> FTLING AND PUBLICATION THEREOF. ' <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange: <br /> Sec. 1. The Board of Commissioners has prepared and does adopt the <br /> following statement of the result of the special election for supplemental tax in <br /> Chapel Hill School District held in said District on May 23, 1967: <br /> STATEMENT OF RESULT OF THE <br /> SPECIAL ELECTION FOR <br /> SUPPLEMENTAL TAX CHAPEL <br /> HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT, ORANGE <br /> COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, <br /> on May 23, 1967. <br /> At a special election held in the Chapel Hill School District, Orange <br /> County, North Carolina, on May 23, 1967, 7,899 voters were registered and qualified <br /> to vote. <br /> At said election 3,196 votes were cast for the supplemental tax not <br /> exceeding 35a per one hundred dollar property valuation within said district for <br /> supplementing the current expense funds from State and County allotments and <br /> thereby operate schools of the Chapel Hi11 Administrative Unit within the Chapel <br /> Hill School District 4f a higher standard by supplementing any item of expenditure <br /> in the school budget, and 1,486 votes were cast against said proposed increase ' <br /> in supplemental tax. That a majority of the qualified voters in said special <br /> school district who voted at said election voted in favor of the approval of said <br /> supplemental tax, and that said tax increase thereby approved is in force and effect. <br /> This statement is given by order of the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> County of Orange. When the foregoing statement shall have been signed by a <br /> majority of the members of this Board and the latter shall be recorded in the <br /> minutes of the Board and such statement shall be filed in the office of said <br /> Clerk and published by said Clerk once in The News of Orange County, a newspaper <br /> published in Orange County. A notice substantially in the following form, with <br /> the printed signature of the Clerk appended thereto, shall be published with the <br /> foregoing statement: ' <br /> TO THE CITIZENS AND TAXPAYERS OF CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT: <br /> No right of action or defense founded upon the invalidity of the election <br /> mentioned in the foregoing statement shall be asserted, nor shall the validity <br /> of such election be open to question in any court upon any ground whatever, except <br /> in an action or proceeding commenced within thirty days after the publication of <br /> the foregoing statement. <br /> Betty June Hayes ' <br /> Clerk to Board of Commissioners <br /> for the County of Orange, North ', <br /> Carolina. <br /> Sec. 3.
