May 25, 1967 Minutes continued <br /> i <br /> Shall there be levied and collected within the area constituting the <br /> Chapel Hill School District an additional special tax, over and above <br /> the present 20¢ per hundred dollar property valuation special tax now <br /> in effect, increasing said 200 per hundred dollar valuation special <br /> tax to not exceeding 35¢ per hundred dollar property valuation within <br /> said area, to further supplement the current expense funds from State <br /> and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the Chapel Hill <br /> € Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School District of a higher <br /> standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school budget. <br /> d. That no complaints have been made to this Board against the regularity <br /> of said election. <br /> e- That said election and the registration therefor were duly and properly <br /> held in accordance with law. <br /> Sec. 2. From the canvass so made by this Board it is determined and <br /> declared: <br /> a. That 7,899 voters were registered and qualified to vote at said <br /> election, <br /> b. That at said election 3,196 votes were cast for the supplemental tax <br /> in Chapel Hill School District not exceeding 35T per one hundred dollar property <br /> valuation within said area for the purpose of supplementing the current expense <br /> funds from State and County allotments and thereby operate schools of the Chapel <br /> Hill Administrative Unit within the Chapel Hill School District of a higher <br /> standard by supplementing any item of expenditure in the school budget; and 1,486 <br /> votes were cast against said proposal; that a majority of the qualified voters of <br /> said County who voted at said election voted in favor of the approval of the <br /> supplemental tax, and that said supplemental tax will be put in force and effect <br /> in accordance with said vote. <br /> Upon motion of Commissioner Ward, seconded by Commissioner Walker, the <br /> foregoing resolution entitled "RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS OF THE SPECIAL <br /> ELECTION FOR SUPPLEMENTAL TAX IN CHAPEL HILL SCHOOL DISTRICT, ORANGE COUNTY, HELD <br /> IN THE SAID DISTRICT ON MAY 23, 1967, AND DETERMINING AND DECLARING THE RESULT <br /> THEREOF" was passed by the following votes: <br /> Ayes: Commissioners Bennett, Ray, Walker and Ward. <br /> Noes: None. <br />
