MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY <br /> BOOK °ACE ��� BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> May 25, 1967 <br /> The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in <br /> ,regular adjourned session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, <br /> 'at eleven o'clock A.M., on May 25, 1967. <br /> i <br /> Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. Ray, Henry S. <br /> Walker and Ira A. Ward. <br /> �l Absent: Carl M. Smith. <br /> { At eleven o'clock A.M., the members of the Board of Commissioners for the <br /> County of Orange met with the County Board of Elections of Orange County and the two <br /> 1IBoards, as two separate bodies, separately received from the registrars and judges of <br /> selection in the various precincts of the County of Orange the returns of the special <br /> 'bond election held on May 23, 1967. <br /> After the returns of said special bond election had been canvassed by said Board', <br /> " f Commissioners, such canvass being simultaneous with the canvassing thereof by the <br /> County Board of Elections in the same place, Commissioner Ward introduced the <br /> ;;following resolutions which was read: <br /> RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS Of THE <br /> SPECIAL BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE COUNTY <br /> j OF ORANGE ON MAY 23, 1967, AND DETERMIN- �4 <br /> ING AND DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF <br /> BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange: <br /> Section 1. The returns of the special bond election held in the County of <br /> ;!Orange on May 23, 1967, having been received from the proper election officers and 3 <br /> jlhaving been canvassed, the Board has found and determined and does hereby declare: <br /> (a) That each registrar and judge for the special bond election held in the <br /> '!County of Orange on May 23, 1967, was duly qualified by law and had taken the <br /> :nnecessary oath. <br /> T (b) That the election officers had incorporated in their returns not only <br /> 'Ethe number of votes cast for and against the question submitted but also the number <br /> '!of voters registered and qualified to vote in each precinct in the election. <br /> (c) That at said election there was submitted to the qualified voters of <br /> :'said County the following question: <br /> Shall an order finally passed on April 17, <br /> 1967, authorizing the County of Orange, <br /> North Carolina, to contract a debt, in addi- <br /> tion to any and all other debt which said <br /> County may now or hereafter have power or <br /> authority to contract, and in evidence there- Il <br /> ' of to issue. School Building Bonds in an aggro-f <br /> gate principal amount not. exceeding $3,000,000 <br /> -.fof the purpose of providing funds, with any <br /> other available funds, for erecting additional <br /> school building and other school plan facili- <br /> �� ties,remodeling, enlarging and reconstructing <br /> existing school buildings and other school <br /> plant facilities and acquiring necessary land <br /> and equipment therefor, to provide additional <br /> school facilities in the County of Orange to <br /> maintain the six months' school term in said j <br /> I <br /> County as required by Section 3 of Article IX <br /> �y of the Constitution, and authorizing the levy <br /> and collection of a sufficient tax for the pay- <br /> ii ment of the principal of and the interest on <br /> said bonds, be approved? <br /> i <br /> (d) That no complaints have been made to this Board against the regularity <br /> 13of said election. <br /> (e) That said election and the registration therefor were duly and properly <br /> �iheld in accordance with law. <br /> Section 2. The following schedule correctly shows the designations of the <br /> several precincts at which said election was held, the number of voters registered <br /> and qualified to vote in each precinct in the election, the number of votes cast in <br /> ;'each precinct in favor of the question submitted, the number cast against such !� <br /> Ilquestion, and the totals of such numbers: <br /> i <br /> I` <br /> � �I <br />
