MINUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOOK °ACE �� BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS May 25, 1967 The Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, North Carolina, met in ,regular adjourned session at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, 'at eleven o'clock A.M., on May 25, 1967. i Present: Chairman Harvey D. Bennett, and Commissioners William C. Ray, Henry S. Walker and Ira A. Ward. �l Absent: Carl M. Smith. { At eleven o'clock A.M., the members of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange met with the County Board of Elections of Orange County and the two 1IBoards, as two separate bodies, separately received from the registrars and judges of selection in the various precincts of the County of Orange the returns of the special 'bond election held on May 23, 1967. After the returns of said special bond election had been canvassed by said Board', " f Commissioners, such canvass being simultaneous with the canvassing thereof by the County Board of Elections in the same place, Commissioner Ward introduced the ;;following resolutions which was read: RESOLUTION CANVASSING THE RETURNS Of THE SPECIAL BOND ELECTION HELD IN THE COUNTY j OF ORANGE ON MAY 23, 1967, AND DETERMIN- �4 ING AND DECLARING THE RESULT THEREOF BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange: Section 1. The returns of the special bond election held in the County of ;!Orange on May 23, 1967, having been received from the proper election officers and 3 jlhaving been canvassed, the Board has found and determined and does hereby declare: (a) That each registrar and judge for the special bond election held in the '!County of Orange on May 23, 1967, was duly qualified by law and had taken the :nnecessary oath. T (b) That the election officers had incorporated in their returns not only 'Ethe number of votes cast for and against the question submitted but also the number '!of voters registered and qualified to vote in each precinct in the election. (c) That at said election there was submitted to the qualified voters of :'said County the following question: Shall an order finally passed on April 17, 1967, authorizing the County of Orange, North Carolina, to contract a debt, in addi- tion to any and all other debt which said County may now or hereafter have power or authority to contract, and in evidence there- Il ' of to issue. School Building Bonds in an aggro-f gate principal amount not. exceeding $3,000,000 -.fof the purpose of providing funds, with any other available funds, for erecting additional school building and other school plan facili- �� ties,remodeling, enlarging and reconstructing existing school buildings and other school plant facilities and acquiring necessary land and equipment therefor, to provide additional school facilities in the County of Orange to maintain the six months' school term in said j I County as required by Section 3 of Article IX �y of the Constitution, and authorizing the levy and collection of a sufficient tax for the pay- ii ment of the principal of and the interest on said bonds, be approved? i (d) That no complaints have been made to this Board against the regularity 13of said election. (e) That said election and the registration therefor were duly and properly �iheld in accordance with law. Section 2. The following schedule correctly shows the designations of the several precincts at which said election was held, the number of voters registered and qualified to vote in each precinct in the election, the number of votes cast in ;'each precinct in favor of the question submitted, the number cast against such !� Ilquestion, and the totals of such numbers: i I` � �I
