That the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange is hereby authorized and directed to give prior notice of such hearing by 1 1 posting a notice at the Courthouse door of the County and at three public places s within the territory to be created into said recreation district, and also by i! publication in The Chapel Hill Weekly and in The News of Orange County, newspapers lE 11 published in said territory, at least once a week for three successive weeks, which notice shall be substantially in the following form: j NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED CREATION OF A RECREATION DISTRICT jr 3 IN ORANGE COUNTY i Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held at 3 o'clock P.M., ons August 1, 1966, at the County Courthouse in Hillsborough, North Carolina, which 1 public hearing will be held by the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, upon a petition filed with the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orange, i proposing the creation of a recreation district within said County pursuant to the if provisions of Chapter 1107, Session Laws of 1965. The boundaries of the territory proposed to be included in such recreation district are as follows: ! if "BEGINNING in the center line of State Road #1112, where the Chapel Hill and I Bingham Township line crosses said road; thence in a Southeasterly direction along the center of said road 250 feet to a point where the center line of Stat Road #1113 intersects with State Road #1112; thence in a Northeasterly direction !i along State Road 41113, 1,525 feet to a concrete marker in the center of said if road; thence South 71° 20' East 41390 feet to a concrete marker in the East side !; of State Road #1179; thence South 82° 30' East 5,480 feet to a concrete marker in the East side of old N. C. Highway 86; thence South 81° 09' East 8,780 feet y to a point 50 feet East of the center line of State University Railroad; thence { j'. in a Northerly direction parallel with the center line of State University ? Railroad 3,350 feet; thence North 87° 15' East 23,940 feet to the Durham County: line; thence in a Southerly direction along the Durham County and Orange County line 53,750 feet to its intersection with the Chatham County line; thence in a , Westerly direction along the Orange County and Chatham County line 39,475 i( feet to the intersection of said County line with the township line between ii Chapel Hill and Bingham Township; thence in a Northerly direction along the J Bingham and Chapel Hill Township line 40,425 feet to the point of BEGINNING." II ji The object proposed to be accomplished by the creation of such recreation (l district as set forth in said petition, is to provide public recreation facilities in order to preserve and promote the public good and general welfare. Said petition also requests the Board of Commissioners for the County of Orangel to call a special election within said proposed recreation district for the purpose j of voting upon: (a) the issuance of Recreation Facilities Bonds in the amount of t $400,000.00 for the]-purpose of providing funds, with any other available funds for acquiring, improving and equipping lands and f, buildings for parks, playgrounds, recreation centers and other recreational facilities and a tax for the payment of the p ii � P Ym principal ?, Of and the interest on such bonds, and ii (b) the levy of an annual tax of not less than three cents nor more than ten cents on each 8100.00 of assessed valuation of the taxable property within such district for the provision, establishment, maintenance and operation of the recreational facilities, the amount of said tax to be set by the Board of County Commissioners within said range. 5 At the time and place above stated any taxpayer or other interested person may appear and be heard.
