Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners

<br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioner met in called session on Monday, November 17, 1958,
<br /> at ten o'clock a.m. in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.

<br /> j Members present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Donald McDade, Donald Stanford,
<br /> Dwight 'Ray and Henry Walker.
<br /> � Members absent: none

<br /> �j This meeting was called for the purpose of interviewing applicants for the position
<br /> 4 of Delinquent Tax Collector.
<br /> j Prior to the beginning of the interviews Senator Edwin Lanier spoke to the Board and
<br /> 1i paid tribute to Commissioner Dwight M. Ray, who will be leaving the Board in December, 1958.
<br /> Ten persons had filed applications with the Board for the position of Delinquent Tax Collector,
<br /> 11 and the following nine persons were interviewed: George T. Cole, Frank Frederick, Hugh
<br /> Wilson, Bill Richmond, Rufus Gates, Ed Murrary, Donald Crawford, Frank Miller,and Leroy Miller,.
<br /> Woodrow Berry who had filed an application failed to appear before the Board.
<br /> j� Final action on this matter was deferred until the December meeting.
<br /> Two road petitions were presented and the Clerk was requested to forward them on to
<br /> the State Highway Commission.
<br /> i
<br /> jj Road located in Chapel Hill Township runs from Kings Mill Road back to Kings Mill Road
<br /> and known locally as Sourwood Drive.
<br /> }) Road located in Hillsboro Township runs from Mt. Willing Road near bridge to dead end
<br /> road north of Mt. Willing Road and known locally as Sunset Circle.
<br /> The following names were drawn to serve as jurors for the December term of Criminal Court:
