Allow for increase in square footage allowances for residential dwelling units and <br /> accessory structures <br /> Removal of the daily trip maximum and delivery cap <br /> Modification in the permitted weight of vehicles used in conjunction with the home <br /> occupation <br /> Existing Standards <br /> Concern: Current standards do not address the permitting of special events including the <br /> Orange County Open Studio Tour <br /> Proposed Standards <br /> - Allow for the review and permitting of events through Section 5.4.3, Special Events <br /> - Allow for the exemption of nonprofit or government organized events from the special <br /> event and Class B Special Use Permit review process <br /> Existing Standards <br /> Concern: Standards may be restricting the art community and operation of individual art studios <br /> Proposed Standards <br /> Provide the capacity to support and accommodate individual art studios <br /> - Development of a larger (major) home occupation category <br /> - Increase in square footage allowances, number of onsite employees, daily trip counts, <br /> visitors, and deliveries, <br /> - Address the permitting of special events <br /> Public Notification <br /> Completed in accordance with Section 2.8.7 of the UDO <br /> - Newspaper legal ads for 2 successive weeks <br /> Joint Planning Area Partners <br /> Proposed amendments provided on November 7, 2013 <br /> - No comments have been received. <br /> Recommendation <br /> • To receive the proposal to amend the Unified Development Ordinance. <br /> • Conduct the Public Hearing and accept public, BOCC, and Planning Board comment on <br /> the proposed amendment. <br /> • Refer the matter to the Planning Board with a request that a recommendation be <br /> returned to the Board of County Commissioners in time for the January 23, 2014 BOCC <br /> regular meeting. <br /> • Adjourn the public hearing until January 23, 2014 in order to receive and accept the <br /> Planning Board's recommendation and any submitted written comments. <br /> Ashley Moncado said the two different categories are defined as follows: <br /> Minor- Smaller scale home-based business operations in the residential neighborhood <br /> setting on smaller lots <br /> Major- Larger home-based business operations in the rural/residential setting on larger tracts <br /> Ashley Moncado said the minor home occupations will allow a square footage increase <br /> from 500 to 750 square feet, and accessory structures will be allowed an increase from 1000 <br /> square feet to 1500 square feet. <br />
