New Technologies <br /> ISSUES <br /> • Staying abreast of and implementing new technologies and web <br /> standards help the City expand its communication reach and <br /> effectiveness. <br /> GOAL: Broaden the City's communication reach by using a diverse set <br /> of communication tools and technology. <br /> STRATEGIES <br /> 1. Evaluate existing communication tools and their capacity to reach <br /> target audiences. <br /> 2. Use seminars, webinars and training to learn about updates to <br /> existing communication tools and new technologies. <br /> 3. Establish new methods for reaching the largest portion of our target <br /> audiences. <br /> 4. Evaluate current communication efforts with daytime population <br /> and use new technologies to enhance the flow of information to this <br /> audience, such as Select Link. <br /> 5. Working with the MIS Department and the new marketing <br /> consultant, the Communications Team will determine the <br /> effectiveness and target audiences reached by Select Link, Twitter <br /> and YouTube. <br /> RESPONSIBILITY <br /> • Communications Coordinator, Communications Team <br /> PRIORITY: 1 <br /> 3. Government Access Channel <br /> ISSUES <br /> • Clayton's cable Channel 10 has potential but is being underutilized. <br /> The channel currently displays informational slides with dates and <br /> times of events and meetings, City Hall closures and emergency <br /> alerts. The Communication Team understands the potential of this <br /> medium and continues to study the viability and cost effectiveness <br /> of expanding the programming capabilities. <br /> GOAL: Maintain a government access channel that provides timely <br /> information, interesting programs and encourages viewing. <br /> Expand its capacity and programming capability. <br /> STRATEGIES <br /> If it is determined that the installation of new fiber optics is cost <br /> effective and the City's cable provider Charter Communications has <br /> regained its financial stability: <br /> 15 <br />
