51 <br /> Hotel employees, retail businesses and St. Louis County <br /> employees find the CBD/Citywide map a valuable <br /> resource for directing visitors to various locations in <br /> Clayton. <br /> Recommendation: It is recommended that the City continue to publish the <br /> Clayton Retail Guide, Parks and Recreation brochure, <br /> CBD/Citywide maps and personal safety material <br /> published by the Police and Fire Departments. <br /> 13. Direct Mail/Written Correspondence <br /> Description: Besides official City business, direct mail is generally used <br /> by City staff to inform residents and businesses about <br /> activities or projects. <br /> Audience: Clayton residents and businesses, Clayton School District, <br /> vendors and other governmental entities. <br /> Evaluation: Letters are mailed to residents and businesses in areas <br /> where activities are planned allowing them time to <br /> prepare for the upcoming activity. <br /> Recommendation: It is recommended that the City continue to include <br /> written correspondence as a communication tool. <br /> 14. Other Print Material <br /> Description: <br /> • In conjunction with written correspondence, door hangers <br /> are used to alert residents of Public Works activities in a <br /> particular neighborhood. <br /> • Banners are used to identify and define particular areas <br /> and neighborhoods or to announce details about special <br /> events. <br /> • Posters are generally used in conjunction with banners to <br /> promote special events. <br /> Audience: Door hangers are used to inform Clayton residents of <br /> neighborhood activities; banners and posters to inform <br /> the general public. <br /> Evaluation: The Public Works Department finds the use of door <br /> hangers in conjunction with written correspondence an <br /> efficient, effective and thorough communication process. <br /> Because there are times during the year when a <br /> proliferation of decorative, lamppost banners are on <br /> 12 <br />
