4 Park-and-Ride Improvements in Hillsborough (Conceptual): Implement park-and-ride <br /> improvements in Hillsborough for cross-county, fixed-route service between Mebane <br /> and Durham. <br /> This project will be submitted as a new transit project to the DCHC MPO for <br /> consideration of inclusion in the DCHC MPO regional priority list and MTIP and in the <br /> 2016-2022 STIP. The project's official submission must be made by Triangle Transit. <br /> 5 Hillsborough Train Station: Construct a train station in Hillsborough and implement <br /> AMTRAK <br /> service. <br /> This project will be submitted as a new transit/rail project to the DCHC MPO for <br /> consideration of inclusion in the DCHC MPO regional priority list and MTIP and in the <br /> 2016-2022 STIP. The project's official submission must be made by Triangle Transit. <br /> 6 Buckhorn Economic Development District (EDD) Park-and-Ride: Make park-and-ride <br /> improvements or construct a park-and-ride facility to be located in the I-85/Buckhorn <br /> Road Economic Development District (EDD) to collect ridership in eastern Alamance <br /> and western Orange Counties. <br /> This project will be submitted as a new transit project for consideration of inclusion in <br /> the DCHC MPO regional priority list and MTIP and in the 2016-2022 STIP. The project's <br /> official submission must be made by either Triangle Transit or the Piedmont Authority <br /> for Regional Transportation (PART). <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Dorosin to <br /> approve the above resolution, modified to include "Regional Priority List" before Transportation <br /> Improvement Program every place it appears for the DCHC MPO. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 8. Reports NONE <br /> 9. County Manager's Report <br /> Michael Talbert gave an update of the effects of the government shutdown on the <br /> County. He said the issues for the County revolve around social services and the health <br /> department. He noted that WIC funds have been reinstated until end of the month. He said <br /> the County is starting to hit roadblocks at the Department of Social Services (DSS) due to the <br /> shutdown. He said the County has been ordered in some cases not to provide services at <br /> DSS. He said there has been immediate action by DSS to reduce services provided to the <br /> adolescent parenting program. He said this puts kids at risk, and he thinks the government will <br /> come through and fund these programs, so it is important to keep them running. <br /> He said there will be no cash payments for Work First after November 1 st. He said no <br /> new clients can be signed up for this program at this time. <br /> Nancy Coston said the state has ordered a stop work on the Work First employment <br /> program. She said the child care program may also be cut soon. She said child care has only <br />
