TEACHER RIGS
f. Born and raised in Denver, Colorado, Libby Lynn moved to Alabama in 1992, and eventually settled
down in North Carolina in 2000. After an unusual 15-year career that included media management for the largest Adult company in the
world, she discovered the ancient technique of Encaustic painting and that most people have no idea what the word Encaustic means.
Encaustic paint is a combination of beeswax, tree sap and pigment. The wax paint is melted and quickly transferred to a hard surface.
In order to become chemically stable, each layer of wax must be fused with a heating device. Hair dryers, hot guns and propane
torches are the most common fusing tools. Libby's main goal is to make affordable art that is ready to hang on anyone's wall. Store-
bought Encaustic supplies are expensive, so Libby learned how to make her own paints and frames. She buys local beeswax from the
Durham Farmer's market, and uses both traditional and experimental dry pigments.
2- HOLLY 8. HE ,AN . ') N _
As an art history mayor, Holly has always found joy in all aspects of art, not just
looking at it or analyzing it, but making it as well. She has always encouraged her family and friends to test the waters of creating,to not
be afraid of making a mistake, because the beauty in creating is,there are no mistakes. With an in interest in a variety of medium, she
has been making art for years and teaching those around her for just as long. So the idea of a shared art experience for all to enjoy
came naturally to her. Out of that, the idea for happymess was born. She is driven by igniting a creative flame in all of us and relishes in
watching it flourish in an open, welcoming environment. She welcomes you to join in this experience.
Jesa Rae Richards is a visual artist and arts educator. She received her BFA inFine
Arts from Columbia College Chicago with a focus on painting and drawing. Her current work spans from live public animated murals to
quirky comics and intricate paintings of imaginary beasts. in her practice as a teacher and as an artist Jesa Rae believes that art
flourishes when skill and knowledge are cultivated alongside
experimentation and playful abandon,
a.a
?'
