performers, allowing each student to expand his or her range as an <br /> actor. This performance will be a collaborative effort a€" both the <br /> directors and the cast will have a say in the direction that the show <br /> takes. This will allow students more responsibility in the show, which <br /> supports One Song's goal of increasing student collaboration and <br /> leadership. "A Most Rare Vision" will also showcase a variety of other <br /> artists, including musicians and vocalists, allowing One Song to branch <br /> out and support even more young artists. One Song believes that there <br /> are many important themes in Shakespeare's work that can and should <br /> be related to modern day issues. <br /> Each year, One Song puts on one show directed by someone <br /> outside of the Board of Directors. Not only does it allow for guest <br /> artists to direct a play, but it also adds a unique experience to the <br /> season. Guest directors offer new ideas to the board, ensuring that One <br /> Song stays current and relevant in the ever-changing theatre world. <br /> One Song encourages board members who have graduated to return <br /> for the summer show, granting high school students the opportunity to <br /> work with college-level performers. One Song takes applications for <br /> the summer show in early spring. <br /> With this grant, the One Song Board of Directors would <br /> continue to reach out to a broad variety of high school students for <br /> acting and technical design and give them the opportunity to work on <br /> shows that deal with unique and important issues. The Board of <br /> Directors wants to share a love of theater and help other students work <br /> more on their theatrical skills, while also allowing students to be <br /> involved in plays that make them think about what they, as performers, <br /> are creating and communicating. By putting on these three productions, <br /> One Song hopes to get the word out to a wider range of people and <br /> create both larger audition pools and audience sizes, which average <br /> between 35-65 people per night. While One Song offers free shows <br /> (with a suggested $5-10 donation) that are open to the public, currently <br /> the majority of attendees for shows are students from the Chapel Hill- <br /> Carrboro city schools. One Song hopes, however, to be able to expand <br /> and reach a more diverse number of people. One Song would like as <br />
