a r
S
Stewart • Cooper - Newell
October 30,2013
Mr.Jeffrey E.Thompson
Director of Asset Management Services
Orange County
131 W. Margaret Lane
Hillsborough,NC 27278
Re: Design Services Proposal
Public Safety Projects:
New EMS Station Prototype Programming and Study
Dear Mr.Thompson,
Thank you and the selection committee for selecting Stewart-Cooper-Newell Architects
to be involved in the upcoming public safety project. We are thrilled to have the
opportunity of beginning a long relationship with the fine people of Orange County. We
will do our best to make the County our most satisfied client yet.
It is our understanding that the County is requesting design services for the development of
new EMS prototype stations. The facilities will house the EMS operations as outlined in
the RFQ. It is anticipated that two prototype station designs(a stand-alone 12 hour station
and a stand-alone 24 hour station)will be developed, with the possibility of other prototype
identified, proposed, and developed as the study progresses. Stewart-Cooper-Newell
Architects(SCNA)will work with County representatives to develop written programs,
prototype design, and projected construction cost of each prototype.
The resulting work product will be a summary booklet. The booklet will include;
- a narrative of the project and the process utilized to accomplish the study
- written programs for both of the proposed facilities
- schematic floor plans for both of the proposed facilities
- estimates of acreage needed for each of the proposed facilities
- construction cost estimates for each of the proposed facilities
BASIC DESIGN SERVICES
Based upon the RFQ and our meetings following designer selection,we propose the
following division of project phases:
Data Collection Phase
SCNA will prepare, distribute, and collect Station Design Questionnaires that provides
preliminary direction for the programming effort.
ARCHITECTURE 1.800.671.0621
%p PLANNING 719 East Second Avenue•Gastonia.NC 28054•P:704.865.6311 •F: 704.865.0046 l
INTERIORS 9133 Two Notch Road•Columbia,SC 29223•P:803.765.9011
CONSULTING i wttv.scn-arcitects-c:om
