Aging in Orange*County: Exploring Options for Housing and Care <br /> Scope of Work <br /> The project deliverables include the following. <br /> 1. Assess the types and prevalence of housing options available to older adults in Orange <br /> County and research projected need based on population growth and changing <br /> preferences. Prepare report for review by Mary Fraser, Director of Aging Transitions, <br /> Orange County Department on Aging. <br /> 2. Provide leadership to the Orange County Long Term Care Collaborative, an initiative to <br /> improve the quality of life of recipients of LTC services. Leadership includes: Bringing <br /> long term care leaders from nursing homes; assisted living facilities and in-home care <br /> agencies to a forum where they will identify areas for positive change, implement <br /> change, and be recognized for positive change over the contract period. Consultation to <br /> assist leaders with the implementation of positive change will also be provided on an as <br /> requested basis. <br /> 3. Help organize and facilitate a series of forums for community members to learn about <br /> and consider new housing models such as intentional communities, co-housing, and <br /> pocket neighborhoods. <br /> 4. Interview Architects and Developers to understand their perspectives on innovative <br /> housing models that may be introduced into Orange.County. They will be asked to <br /> consider housing of various types that serve seniors from diverse backgrounds and <br /> levels of socioeconomic resources and identify barriers that might prohibit their <br /> development. <br /> 5. Facilitate meet ings between Architects / Develop er and th e O range County Planning <br /> Department to address the feasibility of building out current and future models of senior <br /> housing. <br /> 6. Attend weekly meetings between Mary Fraser, Director of Orange County's Aging <br /> Transitions Program and Janice Tyler, Director of Orange County Department on Aging <br /> to ensure project direction, progress and timeline are moving forward per overall project <br /> goals. <br /> Throughout the contract period; a systematic approach will ensure that the major themes and <br /> issues brought forward by all stakeholders are captured in a written proposal. The proposal will <br /> serve to spur further action in Year 3 of the 2012-2017 Master Aging Plan and will be presented <br /> to the OCDoA Advisory Board and the MAP Steering Committee for review and acceptance. <br /> All the above activities will be performed in concert with the mission and leadership of Orange <br /> County's Department on Aging. <br />
