The Clerk told the Board of one correction <br /> to the Assessment Roll for SR # 1878 (also known as New Hope Drive) ; that <br /> is, Block & Lot 8A-B-10, listed on the Roll distributed to the Board as <br /> belonging to Dr. Mauzee and Rose Davis, actually belonged to Frank C. & <br /> Delores Pearson, Box 872, Hillsborough, North Carolina. Those persons <br /> had been notified of the assessment for that parcel . <br /> Commissioner Whitted moved to approve, at 7:52 P.M. , the Assessment <br /> Rolls for SR # 1593 and SR # 1878 with the adjustment noted in the above <br /> paragraph; Commissioner Walker seconded the motion. Vote: Ayes, 4; noes, <br /> 0. The Clerk was instructed to deliver the confirmed assessment rolls to <br /> the Tax Collector for Orange County. <br /> Agenda Item 5: Certificate of Mailing <br /> The Clerk to the Board filed a Certificate of Mailing for SR # 1593 <br /> and SR # 1878 (for a copy of this Certificate, see page/A4-P/of this book). <br /> Agenda Item 6: Presentation of the Orange County <br /> o Schools' Budget Request <br /> Mr. Oscar Compton told the Board he would defer to Dr. Simmons ar,d <br /> Mr. Rickman for the presentation of the Orange County School Board's <br /> budget. Dr. Mike Simmons gave the Board an overview of the budget <br /> ! saying the increase overall was about 13% with 176% of that increase being <br /> in the Capital request for Stanback School . Dr. Simmons, with the aid <br /> of Dr. Lunsford, noted the Federal and State cuts would severely impact : <br /> food service, special education and remedial programs. Mr. Rickman then <br /> took the Board on an line item by line item review of the budget request., <br /> -indicating changes. <br /> The Board uestioned what kinds of <br /> q pans were being made for the bud- <br /> ! geting of items affected by the State? Using the example of the salFry <br /> increase, Mr. Rickman noted what other schools were doing and said for <br /> Orange County they felt the 5% increment with the 5% retirement would cover <br /> them which ever way the State went on that question in October. <br /> The Board thanked the Orange County Schools ofl'.icials for their <br /> presentation.
