Commissioner Gordon suggested that the position be re-advertised. <br /> Commissioner Dorosin said he would like for James Stround to be considered, because <br /> he is a member of the Rogers Road community and would bring diversity to board. He noted <br /> that James Stroud has lived in Orange County since 1955 and has knowledge of the County's <br /> history. <br /> He suggested the appointment be made, followed by the briefing requested by Chair <br /> Jacobs. <br /> Commissioner Rich said it really is important to understand the issues and conflicts, but <br /> she would like to talk with the nominee before appointing him. <br /> Commissioner Price said this is an advisory board, and it is good to have someone with <br /> experience, but it is also good to have someone with interest. She said she does not see the <br /> major concern. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier suggested that possibly she and Chair Jacobs could meet with <br /> James Stroud and the library director. She said it would also be good for him to have a <br /> conversation with Orange County library staff if he is appointed. <br /> Commissioner Price asked why the Board is doing this with this applicant and not with <br /> other applicants. <br /> Commissioner Pelissier said this would be like an orientation and would occur after the <br /> appointment, not before. <br /> Chair Jacobs said that the same person had represented that board for 8 years, and <br /> the relationships and stakes have changed considerably in that time. He said Orange County <br /> has specific interests with this Board. <br /> Commissioner McKee's said his suggestion does not need to rest on just himself. He <br /> said it could be any commissioner. He said his suggestion was based on the fact that the <br /> County contributes heavily to the library and there has been some dissention over issues.
