ri <br /> D. RESOLUTIONS OR PROCLAMATIONS <br /> 1. ORANGE COUNT SENIOR GAMES <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br /> proclaim April 17-29, 1989 as Orange County Senior Games Event Days and to authorize the <br /> Chair to sign the proclamation. The proclamation is stated below: <br /> WHEREAS, According to recent population figures, there are over 10,000 persons <br /> over 55 years of age in Orange County; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County is concerned about the health, fitness, and general well- <br /> being of its older adult population; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County Senior Games provides a special opportunity for older <br /> adults to grow positively in the areas of health, fitness, and social <br /> well-being; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County would like to encourage local business and resident <br /> support and participation from county residents age 55 and older; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE BE IT PROCLAIMED, that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners declares April 17-29, 1989 as Orange County Senior Games <br /> Event Days and encourages citizens age 55 and over to participate. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> E. REPORTS - NONE <br /> F. ITEMS Q DECISION _ CONSENT AGENDA <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Marshall, seconded by Commissioner Halkiotis to <br /> approve the items on the Consent Agenda as listed below: <br /> 1. CONTRACT APPROVAL FOR THE ANIMAL CONTROL BUILDING <br /> To approve a contract with Holt Construction Company for renovation of the <br /> Animal Control Offices for a sum of $65,840, with a separate contingency of $1,010; and <br /> authorize the Chair to sign on behalf of the Board. <br /> 2. APPROVAL OF FUNDING REQUEST FOR SATURDAY SCHOOL FOR SENIORS <br /> To approve a funding request for $2,400 and a letter of support to the Town of <br /> Chapel Hill for the Saturday School for Seniors based at the Phillips Jr. High School in <br /> Chapel Hill. <br /> 3. TAX REFUNDS REQUESTS <br /> To approve the 31 requests for refund of tax bills as submitted by the Tax <br /> Assessor and as listed below: <br /> NAME ACCOUNT # TOTAL REFUND <br /> R. L.
