She supports what can be done for the elderly
but feels a good system is already in place.
:ommissioner Halkiotis stated that the symposium was an opportunity for the providers to
ynteract and support each other.
Chair Carey stated the need to separate out what the County can do and cannot do in
providing services to the teens. He wants the teens and families to be high on our
priority list.
The Board expressed interest in a general teen ombudsman who would guide teens through the
county services and through county government.
Discussion ensued on devising a system which would do case management and allow for sharing
information. When information cannot be shared it leads to inefficiency.
Marti Pryor-Cook briefly outlined what she and others are doing in computerization and her
plans to get a system in place.
Discussion ensued on the removing of state barriers for the sharing of information.
Commissioner Hartwell stated a GOAL for Data Processing:
(1) Use the Spirit for the Finance Department and Office Automation.
(2) Use the Sequel for Social Services Progrz=s
(3) Buy new replacement for the old machine that would be compatible for the GIS
GOALS:
l) Increase accessibility to county services for teens and family oriented services
Consider the position of an ombudsman to educate the public on accessing county
ervices
(3) Enhance the computer system for DSS.
