Cedar Grove exhibits elements of a historic cultural landscape, a landscape <br /> that has evolved through uses by persons whose activities and occupancies have modified the <br /> physical environment. It exemplifies an agricultural-based, tightly knit community that was self- <br /> reliant and innovative in character. Cedar Grove possesses a significant concentration, linkage,and <br /> continuity of land uses,buildings and structures, roads, and natural features that would qualify it as <br /> a National Register Rural Historic District. <br /> Orange County adheres to a comprehensive approach to protecting its historic resources. Extensive <br /> architectural and archeological inventories were completed during the last three years. In April <br /> 1996,the County adopted a historic preservation plan as part of its long-range Comprehensive Plan. <br /> During public meetings to gather citizen input on goals and objectives for the historic preservation <br /> plan, Cedar Grove was consistently identified as one of the County's most treasured historic <br /> resources because of its rural character and sense of place. Nomination of the Cedar Grove Rural <br /> Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places would be consistent with the County's <br /> 2 <br /> Attachment (1) <br />
