The approved charge would be publicized to assist citizens in determining whether <br /> they wish to apply to serve on this committee. <br /> Staff suggests the Board consider the following elements of a proposed charge to the Committee: <br /> • review the needs for new schools in the 10 year Capital Improvement Plan(CIP), as identified <br /> by the Orange County and Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools <br /> • review the capital needs identified by County departments in requests submitted for the 1997- <br /> 2007 CIP <br /> • familiarize itself with the current long-range school capital funding plan approved by the Board <br /> of Commissioners at the October 15, 1996 meeting <br /> • confirm the need for, and timing of, new school construction projects, considering current and <br /> projected student populations <br />
