• Certify the adequacy of the design prior to the beginning of construction, i.e. the Consultant will <br /> indemnify the County and the original design engineer for the design and take responsibility for <br /> the design of the system going forward <br /> • Conduct the preconstruction conference and present, as necessary, any particular relevant <br /> findings based on the analysis phase. <br /> • Review and approve product submittals and shop drawings from the contractor. <br /> • Review project schedule and phasing plan and provide comments, if necessary, on the <br /> feasibility or practicality of the schedule <br /> 2. Construction Phase: The Consultant will perform/be responsible for the following duties and <br /> tasks during the construction phase of the project: <br /> • Revise drawings as necessary to reflect specific minor details prior to beginning of <br /> construction, e.g. minor manhole location shifts and addition, deletion or shifting of service <br /> lateral locations <br /> • Conduct progress meetings at the site <br /> • Verify that the Contractor is conforming with the intent of the plans and specifications. <br /> • Provide clarification and answer Contractor questions when necessary regarding the intent of <br /> the plans and specifications, i.e. Requests for Information (RFIs) <br /> • Inform the County of any issues and potential additional costs or time delays that may come up <br /> during construction <br /> • Review Contractor change order requests <br /> • Review and verify Contractor's monthly pay requests for work completed <br /> • Assist County with any construction issues that may arise <br /> • Perform substantial completion and final completion inspections. Create a punch list of items <br /> necessary to complete the project <br /> • Review and advise County on any necessary deviations from the approved plans, due to <br /> unforeseen field conditions or other issues that may arise. This may include additional <br /> professional surveying, subsurface investigation, environmental review or other related <br /> services. <br /> • Review any County requested deviations from the plans and advise on permit compliance. <br /> Design and certify the best way to accommodate these requests. <br /> • Be present for and approve all testing and pump station start-up done on the new system <br /> • Compile testing data and submit as required to the appropriate State or Federal agencies <br /> 3. Post-Construction Phase: <br /> The Consultant, following the completion of construction of the project will: <br /> • Compile project inspector logs and site inspection notes for submission to the County <br /> • Compile all operator's manuals and material information for the project to submit to the County <br /> • Assist and advise County on release of retainage and the final project reconciliation change <br /> order <br /> • Create and seal a set of as-built drawings of the newly completed sewer extension for <br /> submission to the State, City of Mebane, Orange County and the Federal government. <br /> • Provide final certification of the sewer construction as required by the various local, State and <br /> Federal organizations involved with this project. <br /> 4. Other Ennineerinq Related Activities <br /> The Consultant will perform other engineering related activities, as necessary, during the project on a <br /> per hour basis using agreed upon rates, including but not limited to <br /> 2 <br />
