Self, Deputy State Coordinating Office <br /> Date: October 18, 1996 <br /> Re: Funding available through the Natural Resources Conservation <br /> Service (NRCS) for Stream Clearance <br /> This memorandum is to notify all local jurisdictions in the area affected by <br /> Hurricane Fran that the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has <br /> funds available for stream clearance. Supplemental funding has been secured <br /> for the Emergency Watershed Protection(EWP) Program to provide, on a <br /> prioritized basis, money to clear streams where the storm-related debris has <br /> caused or wiii cause flooding to homes and businesses. <br /> The Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program is cost shared with <br /> funding coming from 75%federal and 25% non-federal sources. The State of <br /> North Carolina will pay the 25% non-federal share and procedures outlining the <br /> reimbursement mechanism which will be used for the 25% share will be <br /> forwarded to Interested jurisdictions.
