t
38
DRAFT
Price asked about the load from the septic for such a large subdivision on the
groundwater supply. Stancil responded that each site would be evaluated by the
Environmental Health Department. Price expressed concern with the density. It
was noted that there are 281 units over 595 acres. Stancil continued that the
work with the Water Resources Committee has found that there are not a lot of
water quality problems in Orange County. Mr.Mitchell noted that two wells
have been drilled which yield 60 and 35 gallons per minute. This is twice the
yield required by the State.
Strayhorn asked the depth of the wells and the response was 300-500 feet.
Brown asked about holding tanks. Mr.Mitchell responded that there will be a
10,000 gallon holding tank in the first phase. Brown asked if Mitchell had the
complete water plan for the entire project and the response was no but it would
not take a great deal to develop the entire plan. The wells will be scattered and
inter-connected. There should be the ability to tap on to a public supply.
MOTION: Brooks moved approval as recommended by the Planning Staff. Seconded by
Hoecke.
VOTE: 7 in favor.
3 opposed(Brown-specifically wants a complete understanding of the utilities
in the project and to have impact statement updated and accurate in terms of its
traffic and school projection figures. Katz-concerned with impact analysis. On
projects of this scale we need to be working with a longer term. Price-
concurred with both Brown and Katz.)
AGENDA ITEM#9: MATTERS HEARD AT PUBLIC HEARING 8/26/96
a. Zoning Atlas Amendments
