4 <br /> development in the Buckhorn EDD is pending, with more anticipated pending completion of <br /> public water and sewer infrastructure in the area. <br /> The 1-85/40 New Interchange project is listed on the Burlington-Graham Metropolitan Planning <br /> Organization (B-G MPO) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). In order to receive <br /> approval of an interchange at the proposed location from the Federal Highway Administration <br /> (FHWA), additional studies and coordination would be required. <br /> Staff will provide any other information at the meeting, and the governing boards can discuss <br /> issues related to this item as necessary. <br /> Attachment 3a-1 — Mattress Factory Road Study Area <br /> Attachment 3a-2— Mattress Factory Road Recommended Interchange Design <br /> b) Transit Plans - Fixed Route Bus Service <br /> Triangle Transit, in partnership with Orange County and City of Mebane staff, is refining <br /> logistical implementation details associated with the planned Mebane-Efland-Hillsborough- <br /> Durham express bus route (with Route 420 connections to Chapel Hill). A handful of potential <br /> park-and-ride locations have been identified in Mebane near 1-85/40 as well as along NC 119 <br /> (5t" Street) between 1-85/40 and downtown Mebane. The existing Z-Bowl commercial site in <br /> downtown Mebane was also identified as a potential site. Sites investigated for a potential <br /> park-and-ride in Mebane near 1-85/40 include: <br /> 1) Mebane Medical Park/Alamance Regional Medical Center; <br /> 2) Tanger Outlets; <br /> 3) Lowes Foods Shopping Center; and the <br /> 4) Walmart Shopping Center. <br /> There may be an opportunity for Triangle Transit to partner with the Piedmont Authority for <br /> Regional Transportation (PART) to implement a joint facility to serve both the Orange <br /> County/Triangle Transit regional express route and PART's future plans for connections from <br /> the Burlington and Mebane areas to the Triangle region. Other park-and-ride locations in <br /> Efland and Hillsborough have been narrowed to a short-list for potential implementation. The <br /> final specifics of the proposed route will be shared with the City of Mebane and Orange County <br /> BOCC in January 2014. Implementation of this route may begin as early as spring or summer <br /> of 2014 depending on the speed at which capital improvements can be made to facilitate the <br /> service. Research has shown that there are over 1,400 people in the Mebane zip code who <br /> work at Duke and UNC. <br /> Staff will provide any other information at the meeting, and the governing boards can discuss <br /> issues related to this item as necessary. <br /> No Attachments <br />
