Informal Resident Advisory Work Group <br />Cedar Grove Community Center <br />August 27, 2013 <br />Page 5of5 <br />W <br />John Thomas then opened the floor for a discussion on the appearance of the building and the finishes that are to <br />be used in the spaces. <br />• The Informal Advisory Group stated that they wanted the building to maintain as much of the original <br />look as possible. <br />• The Informal Advisory Group also requested that the name of the facility be provided in a prominent <br />location on the exterior of the building. <br />• The Architect stated that due to the new energy code, not all of the windows may be replaced with glass. <br />• The floor finishes where discussed. <br />• No carpet should be provided in the Meetings Rooms. <br />• The Informal Advisory Group requested that VCT not be the primary floor finish. The Architect <br />agreed to review alternative floor finishes, such as Luxury Vinyl tile, which have longer wear <br />capabilities and require less maintenance than VCT. <br />• The Multi- purpose room will be provided with a cushioned rubber floor system that will support <br />multiple functions. <br />• The members of the Informal Advisory Group asked about the status of the mowing of the Benson property. <br />The County Representatives stated that the topic was scheduled to be discussed at a meeting of the Department <br />of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation on September 13. <br />o The meadow in the rear of the property is only scheduled to be cut once a year so as to limit the <br />disturbance to the indigenous wild life. <br />o Members of the Informal Advisory Committee stated that the grounds needed to be mowed on a more <br />regular basis. <br />• The Architects will have revised and further developed sketches, incorporating the elements discussed above, for <br />review at the next meeting. <br />o The Informal Advisory Group also asked if a walk -thru could be conducted as part of this meeting and <br />the Architect stated that they would provide signs to show what each of the existing spaces was to <br />become. <br />• The "memorial' aspect of the project was discussed after the meeting as a separate meeting with Peter Sandbeck <br />and the sub - committee that is working on ideas for this memorial. <br />Minutes Recorded By: Date: 9/12/2013 <br />Pierre Henwood <br />This report A the writer's understanding of the major topics and conclusions of the meeting.
