Michael suggested <br />that the architect contact Chuck with NCDOT. <br />• Need to explore the possibility of the toilets having exterior access that could allow them to be used <br />without having to grant access to entire building. <br />• Michael stated that the parking requirements needed to be studied closely as these would be determined <br />by the use of each space. Also could not count a "park and ride" lot in parking counts. <br />The group discussed the "memorial' aspect of the project. <br />• The county cultural resources coordinator Peter Sandbeck is working on this with a sub - committee. <br />• The following elements had been stated in the past as important <br />• Important to have physical elements remain <br />• Colors will be important <br />• Preserving views will be important <br />o Some elements could include: <br />■ Museum style elements <br />• Displays <br />• Oral histories (maybe on "touch" screen technology) <br />• Graphic timeline <br />• Recreating the Maypole <br />o Memorial could be a room, a space in corridor or the whole building. <br />Jeff Thompson stated that the architect needed to review online "Rural Centers of Excellence" for ideas and <br />possible uses for the building. <br />Minutes Recorded By: <br />Pierre Henwood <br />Date: 7/16/2006 <br />This report is the writer's understanding of the major topics and conclusions of the meeting.
