Families must be treated with dignity and respect, and with <br /> understanding of cultural diversity in our community. <br /> ✓ Advocacy and Case Management. Children and families need active case management to <br /> ensure that services are coordinated and relevant to their needs. Advocacy on behalf of the <br /> child and family may also be needed to ensure access to needed services. <br /> ✓ Interagency Collaboration. Interagency collaboration is essential to ensure that services are <br /> comprehensive and linked to meet the needs of children and families,and to prevent <br /> duplication or inefficiency in service delivery. <br /> ✓ Public Awareness. Publicity and other forms of public awareness needs to be increased so <br /> that families know what resources exist in the community and have information about how to <br /> access these resources. <br /> ✓ More Case Workers. More case workers need to be hired to ensure that families can be <br /> treated with dignity and receive the necessary services. Currently,caseloads are too high in <br /> many areas and consequently children and families may be neglected to wait too long for help. <br /> ✓ Family Involvement. Families must be involved in the decisions regarding the services they <br /> receive to ensure that families are empowered and that services are relevant. <br />
