The University hired a consultant,Johnson,Johnson, and Roy of
Ann Arbor, Michigan to assist with the planning process. The Towns of Chapel
Hill and Carrboro were invited to participate in the process and both towns
appointed committees to work with the University and report to their respective
governing boards.
The University's consultant prepared several sets of information, including three
plan alternatives for community comment. On May 23, 1996 final draft plans
were presented and community comment requested.
