Orange County Emergency Services <br /> Executive Summary <br /> The Orange County Emergency Services (OCES) Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Long-Term <br /> Technology Plan, or Long-Term Plan for short, outlines the OCES 9-1-1 Communications goals <br /> and objectives for expanding and improving upon current operations. <br /> The mission of 9-1-1 Communications is to serve the Orange County community through <br /> providing help and support to citizens and visitors during times of personal and large-scale <br /> emergencies. <br /> The vision of 9-1-1 Communications is to serve as a high quality, well maintained 9-1-1 <br /> operations center to ensure accurate, efficient, and expedient response to emergency calls for <br /> help. 9-1-1 Communications is working to become capable of receiving and processing non- <br /> voice reports as well as expanding and improving upon current capabilities. <br /> To guide 9-1-1 Communications, OCES developed this Long-Term Plan as a framework to assign <br /> resources and guide the direction of program development. <br /> The following goals have been identified to further the mission and vision of 9-1-1 <br /> Communications: <br /> Goal A: Enhance the quality of the Orange County 9-1-1 answering system to ensure that all <br /> citizens of and visitors to Orange County, North Carolina have access to public safety services <br /> that are reliable, redundant,secure and diverse. <br /> Goal B: Enhance dispatcher capabilities to more effectively process incoming reports. <br /> Ultimately,improving the processes of 9-1-1 Communications will allow for dispatchers to more <br /> efficiently and effectively process incoming calls. This will have a ripple effect by better <br /> preparing responders and decreasing their response times.
