On May 8, 1996, the Human Relations <br /> Commission (HRC)received notification that the application for designation as a Fair <br /> Employment Practices Agency had been approved.. This designation provides a mutually agreed- <br /> upon process for handling employment discrimination complaints that are currently within the <br /> jurisdiction of both Orange County and the EEOC. As a FEPA, Orange County will receive <br /> $50,000 for the next 3 years for capacity-building purposes. In addition, the County will receive <br /> $500 annually for the next 3 years for providing intake services, and $1,200 annually for the next <br /> 3 years for travel and costs related to attendance and provision of EEOC sponsored training. <br /> After the first 3 years, Orange County will subsequently receive $500 for each closed <br /> employment discrimination case, as long as the County continues to meet substantial equivalency <br /> standards. On May 20, 1996, the HRC received copies of the proposed contract and vouchers for <br /> the first installment of reimbursement for processing and resolving charges <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the <br /> contract and authorize the Chair to sign the contract. <br />
