The organization answered its first emergency <br /> call on June 7, 1971 . Since that time more than 500 volunteers have <br /> contributed thousands of hours to providing high quality emergency <br /> medical and rescue services to Orange County citizens . Chiefs of the <br /> squad have been Lloyd Senter (1971\1981) , Clyde Jones (1981-1984) , and <br /> Ray deFriess (1984-present) . <br /> The Squad will conduct an open house at the Squad Building in Carrboro <br /> on June 15 from 12 : 00-4 : OOpm, followed by an evening ceremony. Staff <br /> have prepared the attached proclamation for consideration by the Board <br /> of Commissioners. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners <br /> approve the proposed proclamation. <br />
