No <br /> ATTACHMENT(S): INFORMATION CONTACT: <br /> PAM JONES, ext. 2650 <br /> BID TABULATION Telephone Number- <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 967-9251 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider awarding a bid to Patriot Building Company for maintenance work at <br /> the Historic Courthouse. <br /> BACKGROUND: Bids were originally solicited for this project in May, 1993, however, bid prices <br /> significantly exceeded appropriations for the project, so the project was delayed until additional <br /> appropriations could be made. An October 31, 1995 bid solicitation yielded no bidders. Bids <br /> were solicited once again on November 13, 1995 with Trafalgar House Construction submitting <br /> the lowest responsible bid. The Board of Commissioners awarded the bid to Trafalgar House. <br /> The bid submitted on November 13 by Trafalgar Hose was conditioned upon the successful <br /> execution of the contract for construction of the Jail and Courthouse Additions. That contract <br /> was not successfully executed. <br /> Bids were solicited once again for the maintenance work on April 30, 1996. One bidder <br /> responded, the tabulation is attached. As a reminder, the work requested by this bid includes <br /> the following: <br /> Base bid: <br /> • painting all exterior trim; and <br /> • replacing gutters (repairs were made to gutters during the 1986 renovation, but gutters <br /> were not replaced). <br /> Alternate G1: replazing windows. <br /> Alternate G2: repair of cupola. <br />
