Proclamation TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br /> Hillsborough -732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill -968-4501 <br /> Mebane -227-2031 <br /> Durham -688-7331 <br /> -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- <br /> PURPOSE: To proclaim the week of April 21-27, 1996 as "Orange County Government <br /> Week" and endorse activities planned during the week. <br /> BACKGROUND: The National Association of County Commissioners and the North <br /> Carolina Association of County Commissioners encourage local <br /> governments to celebrate County Government Week in an effort to <br /> educate citizens about county government. <br /> The attached Calendar of Events(Attachment I) provides an overview <br /> of planned activities to be held during this week. These include a <br /> variety of educational as well as community outreach activities. <br /> Because these activities will provide an increased awareness of <br /> government operations, it is recommended that Orange County <br /> proclaim the week of April 21-27, 1996 as "County Government <br /> Week". A proclamation is provided as Attachment II. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the <br /> proclamation and endorse the planned activities. <br />
