Orange County Coalition <br /> Program Plan `95-96 <br /> page 2 <br /> area police sitb-station, an environmental beautification campaign encompassing <br /> all three communities. <br /> ♦ Work with the Cedar Grove Recreation Committee to develop a business plan for <br /> the development of a community sports center and ball field. <br /> ♦ Develop and implement leadership development activities including week-end <br /> retreats for graduates of the Community Voices training. <br /> ♦ Sponsor community-wide skill specific workshops. <br /> ♦ Provide more Community Voices training sessions facilitated by Community <br /> Voices graduates. <br /> C. To institutionalize the CBP14 concept and philosophy by strengthening the <br /> collaborative efforts of communities, universities, and health agencies and other governmental <br /> organizations and agencies. <br /> STRATEGIES: <br /> ♦ Create a partnership between the conununity as represernted by United Voices, the <br /> Efland-Cheeks School Parent-Teacher Organization, the Orange County Board of <br /> Education, and the Board of County Commissioners to create,plan and develop a <br /> school and community park on the existing lands of the Efland-Cheeks <br /> Community Center and the Efland-Cheeks School. <br /> ♦ Work with local and state Iaw enforcement officials to find ways to increase <br /> police presence in the Cheeks township which includes Efland and PerryhiIls. <br /> D. Increase participation in and pursuit of health related careers by young people of color <br /> through introducing, encouraging and recruiting them to health related fields. <br /> STRATEGIES: <br /> ♦ To the extent possible, collaborate with Wake AHBC to further develop and <br /> implement programs that introduce young people of color to health-related fields. <br /> ♦ Work with UNC and other institutions to expand health career opportunities for <br /> students of color. <br /> ♦ Continue to develop the Teens In Power Program providing programs, training <br /> and activities for enhancing self-esteem, skills in decision making, problem <br /> solving, conflict resolution and communication. <br /> ■ tt <br />
