Hunt, Jr . has proclaimed the week of March <br /> 3 through 9 , 1996 , as Severe Weather Awareness week. A <br /> statewide tornado drill will be held on March 6 , 1996 . The <br /> drill consists of practice watches and warnings being issued <br /> by the National Weather Service and broadcast to the public <br /> over radio and television stations . The purpose of the <br /> drill is to heighten citizen awareness and allow their <br /> participation by practicing movements to safe areas in their <br /> home or office . All county schools typically exercise their <br /> tornado plans during this plan. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends the Board adopt the proclamation <br /> designating the week of March 3 through 9 , 1996 , as <br /> Severe Weather Awareness Week, in orange County and <br /> encourage citizens to learn more about tornados . <br />
