TJCOG, through a consultant, <br /> serves Orange County and other local governments by <br /> reviewing cable rates, conducting cable TV franchise <br /> renewal activities; performing technical audits of the <br /> cable companies distribution system; and representing <br /> the County' s interest in cable TV matters . <br /> On December 5, 1994 the Board of Commissioners entered <br /> into a Cable TV Services Agreement with TJCOG for <br /> calendar year 1995 . The agreement was for a term of <br /> one year with a renewal for an additional year. Last <br /> year the County paid $9, 248 . 74 for several cable rate <br /> reviews and franchise renewal activities which required <br /> monthly communications among consultants, county staff <br /> and the cable TV committee throughout the year. <br /> In calendar year 1996, we anticipate cable rate reviews <br /> and extensive negotiations with cable companies <br /> regarding franchise renewals. The project cost for 1996 <br /> is $9, 624 . 00 . Funds were included in the 1995-96 fiscal <br /> year budget for this service. Cable TV franchise fees <br /> paid to the County by Cable Companies in 1995 totaled <br /> $126, 607. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that the Board approve the <br /> continuation agreement for calendar year 1996 <br /> with Triangle J Council of Governments for Cable <br /> TV Services at the cost of $9, 624 . 00 . <br />
