2 <br /> negotiating the location of the line. Orange and Chatham Counties used <br /> this process in the late 1980s to successfully resolve that county <br /> line . The Boards of Commissioners of Orange and Person Counties <br /> supported the special legislation as an economical, practical way to <br /> address any required clarification of county boundaries . The Alamance <br /> County Board of Commissioners declined to support the special <br /> legislation, so the legislation was withdrawn in the General Assembly. <br /> A property owner along the Orange-Alamance line has for more than a <br /> year been unsuccessful in getting a clear answer as to which county has <br /> planning jurisdiction over his property. As an effort to assist <br /> this and other property owners in similar circumstances, the Manager <br /> recommends that the Board make another attempt to engage the Alamance <br /> Commissioners in meaningful discussion that would lead to pursuing the <br /> special legislation that was prepared in 1995 . <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board seek and conduct <br /> a meeting with appropriate elected and appointed officials of Alamance <br /> County to discuss possible resolution of the Orange-Alamance County <br /> boundary line. <br />
