2 9 <br /> STANDARDS AND GUIDELINES <br /> Activities funded under this program will be performed in compliance with the <br /> applicable Secretary of the Interior's "Standards and Guidelines for Archeology and <br /> Historic Preservation," and shall be conducted under the supervision of the <br /> Historic Preservation Office. <br /> Professional qualifications of the staff, consultants, or principal investigators <br /> undertaking the grant project(s) must meet the applicable minimal professional <br /> qualifications in 36 CFR 61, Appendix A. <br /> Grantees must sign the Equal Opportunity Statement included with the application <br /> and follow federal guidelines throughout the project period. <br /> SELECTION CRITERIA <br /> All proposals will be reviewed and evaluated on the basis of the following: <br /> * emphasis in areas of known development activity <br /> * contribution to statewide architectural or <br /> archaeological inventory of historic resources <br /> * quality of resources in project area <br /> * soundness of project application <br /> * impact on local community <br /> For more information contact Lloyd Childers, grants administrator, Historic <br /> Preservation Office, 109 East Jones Street, Raleigh, NC 27601-2807. <br /> Telephone: (919) 733-4763; FAX: (919) 733-8653. <br /> ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS AND ACTIVITIES <br /> Eligible applicants include: Certified Local Governments (CLGs) or potential CI-Gs <br /> which will be certified by March, 1996. Information on the status of CLG <br /> certification may be obtained from Lloyd Childers, grants ad mini strator/CLG <br /> coordinator, at (919) 733-4763. <br /> Eligible activities: Survey and Planning. Priority consideration for funding will be <br /> given to projects for comprehensive architectural or archaeological surveys and <br /> nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. Preservation planning <br /> activities, development of educational materials, and preparation of publishable <br /> manuscripts from approved architectural surveys are also eligible for consideration. <br /> Publication of surveys, museum exhibits, research, and educational programs <br /> usually are not funded. <br />
