Project began in February 2012. <br />Competition included Toronto, Portland OR, Philadelphia PA, <br />Richmond VA, Atlanta GA, & 18 sites in 12 N.C. counties. <br />11 total visits to Orange County (including visits by Chairman <br />Gota Morinaga & President -elect Toru Arai). <br />Interstate visible site became a criteria during 3rd visit. <br />3 closed session meetings with the BOCC. <br />2 meetings in 2013, with Governor McCrory & Secretary <br />Sharon Decker of the N.C. Department of Commerce. <br />January 2013 - Orange County became 1 of 2 finalist sites. <br />September 3, 2013 - Official public announcement by <br />Morinaga to select Orange County. <br />
