With the increased <br />financial pressures on governments due to economic conditions, organizations are working to <br />improve their energy efficiency by consolidating data centers, moving to virtual platforms, and <br />investing in cloud computing. <br />The use of cloud computing to manage basic applications and data stores is becoming an <br />increasingly useful option for local governments. In particular, private cloud computing with <br />limited service access and governmental control and ownership of the service implementation <br />is expected to have positive returns for local jurisdictions. <br />Information systems are a necessary investment in the overall business planning and as a <br />requirement to conduct future governmental affairs. Attention placed on governmental and <br />technological trends provide a foundation and roadmap for examining future technology projects. <br />7 <br />
