Surface and Subsurface Investigation of Construction Areas
The Contractor should perform surface and possible subsurface investigation in
potential construction areas as shown on the schematic site plan and construction
documents prepared by McGill Associates of Hickory, NC. The amount of subsurface
excavation will depend on the results of initial surface investigation, and may require
intensive subsurface shovel test pits (STPs) only in specific concentrated areas. The
number of STPs shall be of the Contractor's choosing, but should be sufficient to
determine the cultural and archaeological significance of the site(s) and to document the
site(s) with state survey forms.
C.
